History and organization

History

The Japanese Standards Association (JSA), an organization formed through the merger of the Dai Nihon Aerial Technology Association and the Japan Management Association, was authorized to incorporate by the Minister of Trade and Industry on December 6, 1945.

Its office was first established at the Patent and Standards Bureau in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, and then moved to Akasaka, Minato-ku in 1962. In 2013, the head office left Akasaka where it spent more than half a century and moved to Mita, Minato-ku.

On October 1, 2018, JSA Solutions Co., Ltd. (JSA-SOL) and the Japanese Registration of Certificated Auditors and experts (JRCA) were newly established and these three entities, under the slogan, “Standards that connect the world,” began operation as the JSA Group on April 1, 2019.

The objective of the association is “to educate the public regarding the standardization and unification of industrial standards, and thereby to contribute to the improvement of technology and the enhancement of production efficiency”.
